Angelica Root has a rich herbaceous aroma ideal for diffusing and is good for the immune and circulatory systems.

Angelica Root is said to throw a cloak of spiritual protection around the user. For this reason, the root was widely used in history during times of epidemics, such as the plague. Known by Christians as 'the root of the Holy Ghost' and it was also linked with the archangel Michael.  

Basil is a stimulating and clearing oil, useful when concentration is needed or when feeling tired and sluggish. It has a stimulating effect on the brain and nervous system thus great for nervous debility, poor concentration and mental fatigue.

Bay is warming and stimulating. A clear, sweet, spicy oil and yellowish in colour. Also known as West Indian Bay, this Bay is not to be confused with Laurus Nobilis or Sweet Bay, which is a different species.

Cinnamon Leaf is a warm, spicy & sweet essential oil. Once regarded as a precious substance, especially in temples as an ingredient in incense. Today Cinnamon Leaf is often used in perfumery for its warm, spicy, "oriental" notes. It is also an astringent.

Many cultures value the medicinal use of the Citronella leaves for stimulation and insect repellents. It is fresh, powerful, lemony in scent and yellowish-brown in colour. It is also a refreshing and clarifying oil.

Citronella comes in two main types - Java and Ceylon. We have introduced an oil from Sri Lanka, which is the only source of the Ceylon type, produced from the Lenabatu variety of citronella grass. Java-type is produced in many countries other than Indonesia, in particular China. 

The best Clary Sage comes from Russia, which is by far the most important producer, although France often plays a significant role in distribution. We have selected a very high quality oil. Clary Sage is very uplifting and due to its antispasmodic properties, can be very soothing for menstrual pain and muscular stiffness.

Cypress has a woody aroma and is strongly anti-septic and astringent. The Chinese consider the Cypress nuts very nutritious and of benefit for chest complaints. Due to it's antirheumatic properties, the oil has also been used for joint pain.

Benzoin is sweet, rich, vanilla-like and is of a warm amber colour. It has been traditionally used in Friar's Balsam for steam inhalations, and it is excellent for use in a nourishing blend for dry or weather-worn skin.

As Benzoin is a resinoid, it comes in solid form. We use an odourless diluent - benzyl benzoate - to liquefy it so that it is practical to use..
