Yarrow has a bittersweet, warm, herbaceous aroma. It calms the digestive system, soothes muscle and joint pain and boosts the immune system. It is also good for dry skin and the scalp.
Associated with Achilles, (hence its botanical name), it is claimed he used it for healing battle wounds. It was also traditionally worn as a charm to protect against evil, as well as to attract love. In China, the stalks of Yarrow feature in ritual divination in the I Ching.
